Tixel Skin Treatment by Dr Janice

If your skin’s been feeling tired, dull, or just not as firm and smooth as it used to be, you’re not alone — and you’re not stuck with it either. At Dr Janice Brown Aesthetics & Skin in Hillsborough, I offer Tixel skin treatment — a clever way to rejuvenate your skin naturally, with minimal downtime and no needles.

Whether it’s crepey eyes, fine lines, sun damage or acne scarring, Tixel treatment gives your skin a gentle reset — and the results speak for themselves. You can read more about Tixel for the eye area here.

What is Tixel?

Tixel is a non-surgical, heat-based treatment that helps tighten skin, smooth wrinkles, fade pigmentation, and boost collagen — all without lasers or harsh peels.

It uses a heated titanium tip to create micro-channels in the skin (think of it like tapping, not burning). This triggers your body’s natural healing response — and encourages new collagen and elastin to form.

The result? Firmer, fresher, more even skin with a glow that keeps improving for weeks. If you’re wondering how Tixel compares to more aggressive laser treatments, check out my comparison of Tixel vs CO2 Laser Resurfacing.

How Does a Tixel Skin Rejuvenation Treatment Work?

Tixel uses a patented technology called Thermo-Mechanical Ablation (TMA). The tip of the device heats to a precise temperature and briefly touches the skin — for less than a second — creating controlled micro-injuries.

This process helps:

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improve skin texture and tone
  • Fade sun damage and age spots
  • Refine pores and acne scars

Difference Between Tixel and Fractional CO2 Lasers

CO2 lasers use light to resurface the skin, which can be effective but often involves more pain, more downtime, and more risk for darker skin types. Tixel achieves similar results — but without burning the skin or leaving it raw.

Difference Between Tixel and HIFU

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) works deeper beneath the skin, while Tixel targets the surface and upper layers. If you’re looking to smooth, brighten and refresh your skin’s texture, Tixel is often the better choice — especially around the eyes and mouth.

What Can Tixel Treat?

Tixel is incredibly versatile and can treat all of the following:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity (including jowls and jawline)
  • Sun-damaged or uneven skin tone
  • Crepey eyelid skin and crow’s feet
  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne scarring and pigmentation
  • Stretch marks

Why My Patients Love Tixel

  • No needles or lasers – just gentle heat
  • Minimal downtime – redness usually lasts 1–3 days
  • Safe around the eyes – ideal for delicate skin
  • Customisable – light touch-up or full skin resurfacing
  • Long-lasting results – collagen stimulation continues for months

What to Expect During a Tixel Treatment

How to Prepare

Avoid active sun exposure and stop retinoids or acids a few days before your treatment. Come to your appointment makeup-free.

During Your Session

I’ll apply a numbing cream to keep you comfortable. Then I gently pass the heated tip over your skin — it takes 15–30 minutes, depending on the area. You’ll feel warmth and tingling, but most patients say it’s very manageable.

Aftercare & Recovery

  • Expect redness and a mild sunburn feeling for 1–3 days
  • Tiny crusts may form — don’t pick
  • Use a gentle moisturiser and SPF daily
  • No makeup or actives for 48 hours

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Most patients see visible results after 1 session, but a course of 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart gives the best long-term improvement. Top-up treatments every 6–12 months keep results fresh.

How Long Do Tixel Results Last?

After your course of treatments, your skin will continue improving for up to 6 months. With regular maintenance, results can last up to 18–24 months. The collagen stimulation continues long after your last session.

Can Tixel Be Combined with Other Treatments?

Yes — and it often works even better when combined with:

  • Skin boosters (like Profhilo or Polynucleotides)
  • Anti-wrinkle injections
  • Dermal fillers
  • Microneedling with PRP
