Skin boosters are one of the fastest-growing categories in aesthetics — and for good reason. They don’t change your features; instead, they improve the quality of your skin from within. At Dr Janice Brown Aesthetics & Skin in Hillsborough, I offer both Profhilo and babyGLOW. Patients regularly ask me which one they should choose. The honest answer is: it depends on your skin and your goals. This guide will help you understand both treatments so you can make an informed decision.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is one of the most well-established skin booster treatments available. It contains one of the highest concentrations of pure hyaluronic acid of any injectable product on the market — 64mg in a 2ml syringe. Crucially, it uses no chemical cross-linking agents, which means the hyaluronic acid disperses freely through the tissue once injected, spreading across a wide area rather than staying in one spot.
Profhilo works through a process called bio-remodelling — it stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin in the skin, improving firmness, elasticity, and hydration over time. The standard protocol involves two treatment sessions, four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every four to six months. It is particularly effective for skin laxity, crepiness, and loss of skin tone — concerns that become more noticeable from the mid-30s onwards.
What is babyGLOW?
babyGLOW is a newer treatment, developed through Teoxane’s Redensity 1 formula and a refined injection protocol created by a global panel of aesthetic experts. Like Profhilo, it contains hyaluronic acid — but it also includes a Dermo-Restructuring Complex of amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. This makes it more of a skin revitalisation treatment than a pure bio-remodeller.
Specifically, babyGLOW delivers its formula via an 8-point injection technique designed to distribute the product evenly across the face. Clinical data shows patients notice an immediate improvement in glow and radiance, with continued improvement in skin quality, hydration and texture over the following weeks. The recommended course is two to three sessions, four to six weeks apart, with maintenance every four to six months.
“Both treatments improve skin quality — but they do so in different ways. Understanding which one suits your skin is the key to getting the best result.”

Which One is Right for You?
Both treatments improve skin quality, but they tend to suit different patients and different concerns. Here is a simple guide to help you think about which might be the better starting point for your skin.
Consider Profhilo if you have…
- Loss of skin firmness or elasticity
- Crepey skin on the face or neck
- Skin that feels less bouncy than it used to
- Visible skin laxity, particularly around the jaw or cheeks
- A preference for a well-established, clinically proven protocol
Consider babyGLOW if you have…
- Dull, flat or dehydrated skin
- Enlarged or congested pores
- Early signs of ageing with good underlying skin tone
- A desire for immediate visible glow
- An interest in a multi-ingredient revitalisation approach
It is also worth noting that Profhilo and babyGLOW are not mutually exclusive. In fact, many patients benefit from combining them — or alternating them across the year — as part of a broader skin health plan. At the clinic, I discuss each patient’s skin individually at consultation and recommend what I genuinely believe will give the best result for their specific concerns.
Both treatments also combine well with other skin health options I offer at the clinic, including Polynucleotides, Sculptra, Tixel skin resurfacing and dermal fillers. I build a bespoke plan around your skin, your concerns and your budget.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Profhilo or babyGLOW better?
Neither is definitively better — they suit different skin concerns. Profhilo tends to work better for patients with skin laxity and loss of firmness, while babyGLOW tends to suit patients who want improved glow, hydration and skin quality. At Dr Janice Brown Aesthetics & Skin, I assess your skin at consultation and recommend whichever treatment — or combination — is most appropriate for your individual concerns.
Can I have Profhilo and babyGLOW together?
Yes — many patients benefit from combining both treatments, either at the same time or as part of a planned treatment programme across the year. They work in complementary ways, so combining them can address both skin laxity and overall skin quality simultaneously. I discuss combination approaches at consultation.
How many sessions of Profhilo do I need?
The standard Profhilo protocol involves two sessions, four weeks apart. Most patients then maintain their results with a single session every four to six months. However, I tailor the plan to each patient based on their skin and how they respond to the initial course.
How many sessions of babyGLOW do I need?
babyGLOW typically involves two to three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Patients often notice an immediate improvement in glow after the first session, with continued improvement in skin quality following subsequent treatments. Maintenance is recommended every four to six months thereafter.
