Botox or Fillers – What is the difference?
I have been blessed to have some lovely new patients come to my clinic over the past few weeks. Quite often I’m asked “Botox or fillers, which is better?” The short answer is they are both great, the long answer is they both do different things.
Botox or Botulinum toxin as it is known, is a purified protein of bacterial origin. When injected into a muscle it temporarily relaxes its movement. When strategically injected around the face — it helps smooth out existing lines and inhibit movement that can help reduce deeper lines over time.
Fillers, also called dermal fillers are commonly made of hyaluronic acid, a substance which binds to water to restore volume. As we age facial volume is lost and replacing this volume helps fill out any lines or improve the appearance of sagging skin.
So both are great and together are amazing! Strategically using these injectable treatments following a consultation will result in a beautiful natural appearance.
