Overview
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) for hair growth has surged in popularity over the past few years. This non-surgical procedure is highly effective for treating thinning hair and halting the progression of hair loss.
With over five years of experience in using PRP for hair loss, I am the most experienced practitioner in Northern Ireland.
PRP hair treatment is ideal for both men and women experiencing hair loss. It is particularly effective for those with receding hairlines, telogen effluvium, or androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness) who still have viable follicles. PRP has also become the gold standard treatment following hair transplant surgery, improving the success of grafts and maintaining implanted follicles.
The PRP I use is known as iPRF (injectable platelet rich fibrin), which is considered the most advanced form of PRP. The process of prp hair restoration involves extracting platelet-rich plasma from the patient’s blood and injecting it into the scalp to rejuvenate hair follicles.

The Science of PRP Therapy
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy is a non-surgical procedure that uses the body’s own growth factors to stimulate hair growth and improve skin texture. The treatment involves collecting a small sample of the patient’s blood, which is then processed to separate the platelets from the other blood components. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the scalp or affected area, where it releases growth factors that stimulate hair growth and improve skin texture.
The growth factors in PRP therapy work by stimulating the hair follicles, increasing blood flow to the scalp, and promoting the growth of new hair. PRP therapy can also help to improve skin texture by increasing collagen production, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and improving skin elasticity.
Effective for Hair Growth and Hair Thinning.
PRP hair loss therapy is a highly effective treatment for hair growth and hair thinning. The treatment has been shown to increase hair density, improve hair texture, and reduce hair shedding. PRP therapy can also help to stimulate dormant hair follicles, leading to new hair growth and improved hair health.
PRP therapy is also a safe and non-invasive treatment. The treatment involves minimal discomfort and has few side effects, making it an attractive option for those looking for a non-surgical solution to hair loss. PRP therapy can also be used in conjunction with other hair loss treatments, such as medications or low-level laser therapy, to enhance results.
Procedure Process
The PRP I use is known as iPRF or injectable platelet rich fibrin and is thought to be the most advanced form of PRP.
A small amount of your blood is taken, in the same way as a blood test. The platelets and fibrin are separated out from the rest of the sample by a centrifuge.
When the harvested platelets and fibrin are injected into the scalp, they release growth factors that increase blood supply to the hair and promote thicker healthier hair strands.
The PRP procedure is highly effective for hair restoration by invigorating hair follicles.
The treatment is a course of three treatments four weeks apart. A single maintenance treatment is required at six months.
