Alumier products are priced at a similar price point as products purchased at a beauty counter. But, Alumier is much more efective. Through advanced proprietary chemistry, AlumierMD has optimized the bioavailability of each molecule in the ingredients. As a result, the prescription-strength formulations deliver exceptional results.
Anti wrinkle treatment is largely pain-free. Most people only feel mild discomfort. The needle used is very small, close to the width of a human hair.
With an experienced injector like Dr Janice the procedure is very well tolerated. However everyone will tolerate pain differently and numbing cream is available on request.
Botulinum toxin injections have been used for many years in medicine. Since their introduction, four decades ago anti-wrinkle injection treatments have become a very popular to relax muscles, and achieve different cosmetic results.
Anti-wrinkle injections are safe when performed by a medical practitioner. As botulinum toxin is a prescription only medication they require face to face assessment with a prescriber. As Dr Janice is a Dentist this all happens as part of your consultation which is required prior to your treatment.
The results can be a dramatic improvement to your skin. Results are however not permanent.
As we age and accumulate more sun damage, we can develop new lines and skin pigment changes. All treatments must be maintained, this can be supported by good home care and daily sunscreen application.
Chemical peels are considered very safe for most people when performed by a trained medical practitioner.
Successful outcomes are based on a careful patient selection as well as appropriate use of specific peeling agents.
BioRePeel Cl3 is a chemical peel with a high margin of safety and is suitable for all ages and most skin types.
I wouldn’t say that dermal fillers are better than Botox injections. Their purpose is different and they compliment each other.
Dermal fillers replace lost volume so are used on static lines which remain visible on the face even when it’s relaxed and expressionless. Dynamic lines are visable on expression and are generally best treated with Botox.
The dermal fillers I use in my clinic are hyaluronic acid based, they are therefore not permanent. While it is disappointing that treatment needs to be maintained, its actually a good thing!
Should anything to wrong, I have the ability to reverse the hyaluronic acid dermal fillers using an enzyme prescription only medication, called Hyaluronidase. This is ensures your safety during the treatment.
Dermal fillers are generally safe, but they are best carried out by an experience medical professional. You should check that the professional doing thetreatment is on a medical register, experienced and insured. Prescribing medical professionals will have access to reversal prescription only medication, hyaluronidase should they need it.
The most common side effects are short lived and include redness at the site of the injections from the needle or cannula entry. Bruising is also possible and resolves after a few days.
Serious problems are thankfully very rare, but can include infection, poor result, blockage of a blood vessel causing tissue death and extremely blindness. Dr Janice has undertaken many complication courses and is supported by medical colleagues should assistance be required.
Yes, facial aesthetic treatments are safe when performed by a qualified and experienced professional in a controlled clinical setting. It’s important to choose a reputable practitioner who follows strict safety protocols and uses high-quality products and equipment.
Before undergoing any treatment, it’s advisable to consult with your provider to discuss your medical history, expectations, and any potential risks or complications associated with the procedure. Additionally, following post-treatment care instructions and attending follow-up appointments can help ensure a safe and successful outcome.
Anti wrinkle treatment has been used in ophthalmology since the 1980s and the treatment has a great safety profile.
It is important to recognise that having excessive sweating may be an indication of an underlying medical condition so it is recommended to determine the cause if this is new to you.
PDO threads are made of a very safe material, it is the same material used in cardiac surgeries and are re-absorbable and biocompatible.
PDO thread lifts are low risk thanks to being less invasive when compared to surgery.
The threads I use in my clinic, MINT threads are approved by the FDA for safety and efficiency and carry a CE mark. Hundreds of thousands of treatments have been performed with no reports of allergic reactions, sensitivities to the threads, or serious side effects or risks.
In general there are two types of PDO threads; Cogs or barbed threads and smooth threads.
Cogs or barbed threads are mainly used in my clinic to reposition sagging tissues or lift brows.
Smooth PDO threads stimulate collagen in the skin and therefore rejuvenate the overlying skin.
Several sessions are required throughout the year and some might find this process lengthly, but it is certainly worth it for those who want to improve their hair health.
Yes, like any cosmetic treatment, Sculptra may come with some potential side effects, though they are typically mild and temporary. Common side effects include:
- Swelling – Mild swelling at the injection sites is common and usually subsides within a few days.
- Bruising – Bruising can occur, especially around the injection areas, and typically fades within a week.
- Redness – Temporary redness at the injection sites may occur immediately after treatment, which usually resolves within a few hours to a day.
- Tenderness or Pain – Some patients may experience mild tenderness or discomfort at the injection sites, which typically resolves on its own.
- Lumps or Bumps – Small, temporary lumps or bumps may appear under the skin immediately after the injection. These usually resolve as the product settles and the collagen production begins.
- Infection – Though rare, there is a risk of infection at the injection site, particularly if aftercare instructions are not followed.
- Allergic Reaction – While rare, some individuals may experience an allergic reaction to the product. Symptoms may include itching, swelling, or redness that persists beyond the initial post-treatment period.
To minimise risks, it’s important to follow aftercare instructions carefully and choose a qualified and experienced practitioner. If any side effects persist or you experience unusual symptoms, it’s essential to contact your practitioner promptly.
Side effects are generally mild and may include temporary redness, swelling, and a sensation similar to a mild sunburn.
Anti wrinkle can be used to prevent wrinkles before they become established. To learn how this treatment can be used as wrinkle prevention read my post.
Chemical peels are great for active acne. They effectively exfoliate away the top layer of dead, dull skin and help to kill the skin bacteria, P.acnes, that is a major cause of acne.
But sometimes after, you can get more acne. This is know as a ‘skin purge’. This makes the skin appear temporarily worse, but it is sometimes part of the process, so don’t loose faith! Because of the rapid cell renewal, old cells, cellular debris, dirt and oils are also brought to the surface of the skin.
As discussed before not all peels are equal, they can be superficial, medium and deep in nature.
Medium chemical peels such as BioRePeel Cl3 remove skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of your middle layer of skin (dermis). This means they can treat wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone.
You might need to repeat the procedure to achieve or maintain the desired result and home care is essential to prevent further pigmentation, acne and support your skin.
Peels can be combined with other treatments to maximise results. However, not every type of peel can be in the same appointment as other treatments.
BioRePeel Cl3 can be combined with the following treatments;
- Before Botulinum toxin or Dermal filler treatments
- Before Dermalux LED light therapy
Polynucleotide treatment for under eye rejuvenation has become my gold standard. It is designed to address a range of under-eye concerns, from dark circles to dry skin and fine lines, in order to provide a refreshed and radiant appearance.
This treatment offers a range of benefits, from brightening and smoothing dark circles to improving the appearance of dry skin and reducing the appearance of crow’s feet. Unlike traditional fillers “tear trough” treatment which has its own complications, Polynucleotide under eye treatment encourages the body to restore the quality of its own skin, resulting in a more natural-looking under-eye area.
Yes, you can have Profhilo and Botox together. In fact, many people choose to combine these two treatments to achieve a more complete rejuvenation of their skin. Profhilo can help to improve the texture and overall appearance of the skin, while Botox can help to smooth out any dynamic wrinkles.
Absolutely! In fact this is one of the fastest growing trends. For more information on Male treatments check out my post.
PDO threads work well for lifting and firming the skin of the jowl area. This enhances the definition of your jawline.
These dissolvable threads are placed just below the surface of the skin and they reposition the sagging tissues. As they are resorbed, collagen is formed that firms the skin.
The treatment has a high margin of safety, however there can be some side effects. It is possible to have some bruising or swelling at the injection site. Other side effects might include temporary redness and itching.
It is very rare to have a vascular event if a blood vessel were to become blocked. If this were to happen, Profhilo can be dissolved in the same way as hyaluronic acid dermal filler.
It is important to only receive Profhilo injections from a licensed and experienced professional who has been trained by HA Derma.
PRP can be used to treat Acne scarring once the active acne is controlled.
The PRP is injected and micro needled into the skin. Depending on the location of severe scars it might also be possible to perform subcision of the underlying fibers of the scar tissue.
Yes, Sculptra can be used in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments, but it’s important to space them appropriately and consult with your practitioner beforehand to ensure the best results. Common treatments that can be combined with Sculptra include:
- Botox – These neuromodulators can be used alongside Sculptra to relax wrinkles and fine lines, particularly in the forehead, crow’s feet, and frown areas. Botox works on dynamic wrinkles, while Sculptra improves overall volume and collagen production.
- Dermal Fillers – Sculptra can be paired with hyaluronic acid-based fillers (like Juvederm or Restylane) for immediate volume restoration, while Sculptra works gradually to stimulate collagen and provide longer-lasting results.
- Laser Treatments – Non-ablative lasers (like Fraxel or skin resurfacing treatments) can improve skin texture and tone while Sculptra works on volume restoration. Just ensure a suitable gap between treatments to avoid excessive irritation.
- Microneedling – Microneedling can be used alongside Sculptra for enhancing collagen production. Be sure to space treatments as recommended to allow your skin to recover.
- Chemical Peels – Mild chemical peels can be combined with Sculptra to improve skin texture, but ensure there is a sufficient healing period between treatments.
Always have a thorough consultation with your practitioner to discuss your goals, treatments, and any potential risks when combining treatments.
Yes, Tixel can be combined with other treatments like dermal fillers or Botox for enhanced results. Consult with your practitioner for personalized recommendations.
AlumierMD skincare products contain active and medical ingredients, such as retinol and AHA, so for your wellbeing and safety access to purchase products is not open to the public, a consultation is required. Your consultation can be carried out face to face or by video.
You will then be sent a link to access our exclusive online AlumierMD portal to purchase these medically grade products.
Polynucleotide treatments can be used alone as well as in combination with other treatments such as anti wrinkle treatment, Profhilo or dermal filler etc.
Polynucleotides are particularly good for dark circles, soft hollowing under the eye and addressing the crepey tissue around the eye. The treatment is often used in combination with anti wrinkle treatment.
My PRP facial always involves micro needling as the injections work synergistically with the microneedling. PRP contains proteins and several growth factors that regulate and activate cell migration and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.
Micro needling helps create micro channels for the PRP delivery and the micro injury kick starts the healing cascade leading to more rapid collagen production.
You can continue with Minoxidil and other hair loss treatments following PRP. In fact, they have been shown to be more effective when combined.
Thread placement can be uncomfortable, therefore I use local anaesthetic to making the procedure as comfortable as possible.
Some tenderness is to be expected as the local anaesthesia wears off, this discomfort can be managed by analgesia.
Most people can resume normal activities following PDO threads. There may be some degree of swelling, redness, possibly some puckering or indentations along the site of the thread and pin prick marks from the insertion. These immediate effects settle within two weeks for most people.
The week following the threads procedure the area around the threads may feel tender and paracetamol helps with any discomfort.
There are a few dos and don’ts following the treatment;
- Do sleep on your back for 5 nights
- Make-up should not be worn for 24 hours
- No facials or facial massage for 10 days
- No extreme facial expressions for 2 weeks
- Application of anti-biotic cream as advised.
- To attend a review appointment as advised.
- To avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, sun bathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong swelling.
- Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours, and then should settle within the first few days. Cold packs can be helpful in reducing swelling.
- Bruising may take a few days to appear, arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising. It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment.
Contact me if you have any worries following the treatment

Anti-wrinkle injection using botulinum toxin blocks the signals for perspiration at the sweat glands and this stops the excessive sweating.
You should notice an improvement within 5-10 days with the full effect at around two weeks. This will vary between patients.
Blue LED light with a wavelength 415 nm targets and treats acne lesions. This blue light reduces activity in the skin’s oil glands, resulting in less oil that can plug the hair follicles, leading to acne. Blue LED light may also kill acne-causing bacteria known as Cutibacterium acnes.
Red LED light of wavelength 633 nm targets inflammation and redness. This rejuvenating light helps improve collagen and hydration and speeds up recovery of the skin.

PRP is a very safe and effective treatment for hair thinning to promote growth and prevent further hair loss.
Several studies have shown that PRP can be used effectively for treatment of hair loss. The studies showed significant increase in hair count and hair diameter after PRP treatment. The treatment has been shown to produce high levels of satisfaction and improvement in the quality of life in patients affected by hair loss.
Dermal fillers can be removed and your body will resorb them over time as it carries out its own housekeeping of your tissues.
If the amount of dermal filler is not excessive then your tissues will return to their normal, non filled shape. That said, if you have been having dermal fillers for a while and decide to have filler dissolved you may feel that the loss of volume is greater as it is difficult to remember your starting point.

There are some steps you can take to make the most of your PRP treatment;
- Maintain a good diet with dark leafy green vegetables
- Increase your Iron and vitamin B intake
- Exercise
- Refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol
- Avoid foods that affect platelet function
- Follow the aftercare

A chemical peel removes damaged skin cells, allowing healthy skin to grow in their place. But there are different types of chemical peels.
There are 3 types of peels, called superficial, medium and deep.
Superficial and medium peels are usually safe, as long as they’re done correctly. These type of peels are not permanent and they need to be repeated.
Superficial and medium chemical peel is usually used for:
- fine wrinkles
- uneven skin tone
- acne
- dry skin
- wrinkles
- acne scars
You may need several treatments to get the results you want.
Deeper peels are more risky. They’re longer-lasting and do not usually need to be repeated. Due to the risk I do not offer these peels in my clinic.
You can book your consultation online Here.
They are similar in terms of the effects but in addition to providing hydration like hyaluronic acid skin boosters, polynucleotides communicate with our cells to make them produce collagen and elastin.
Polunucleotides can target areas such as the eyes, lips and forehead where skin boosters, such as Profhilo, cannot be used.
Excessive sweating is when you sweat more than you might expect based on the surrounding temperature or your activity level or stress.
Excessive sweating can disrupt daily activities and cause social anxiety or embarrassment.
There are several signs that you might have excessive sweating. You may have noticed sweat dripping or sitting as beads on the skin, soaked clothing, or transfer to everyday objects such as your keyboard or chair.
Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by a specific type of bacteria. Small does doses of botulinum toxin are used to reduce facial wrinkles.
When botulinum toxin is injected, it blocks certain nerve signals that make muscles contract. The muscles relax, reducing unwanted wrinkles. This effect lasts about 3–6 months. After that, the nerves regenerate by producing new nerve endings and the muscles move again and wrinkles come back.
Hyaluronic acid is hydrophilic, meaning it draws and holds water in the area of the injection.
Therefore, Profhilo acts as a hydrator rather than a filler. This makes it fantastic for those with tired, dull-looking skin; transforming it into a firm and luminous skin.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers and skin booster treatments, Sculptra does not use hyaluronic acid for instant volume enhancement. Instead, it is primarily formulated with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a powerful biostimulator that encourages the production of new collagen and elastin, gradually restoring deep, natural-looking volume.
Sculptra is an injectable collagen biostimulator that works beneath the skin to restore volume and improve skin quality over time. Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate results by adding volume, Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which gradually stimulates the body’s natural collagen production.
When injected into the deeper layers of the skin, Sculptra triggers a mild inflammatory response, activating fibroblasts—the cells responsible for collagen synthesis. Over the following weeks and months, this process rebuilds and strengthens the skin’s inner structure, restoring lost volume, improving skin firmness, and enhancing overall texture.
Sculptra is typically administered in a series of 2-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, allowing collagen production to develop progressively. The results appear gradually and can last up to two years, providing a subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation without the need for frequent maintenance.
On average anti wrinkle injections last around 3-4 months, but this can vary from person to person. How well you look after your skin can impact the longevity as well as your skin type and the severity of your wrinkles prior to treatment.
With regular treatment you may be able to increase the interval between treatments. Frequent treatment can cause the muscles to become smaller over time.
Dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid vary in strength and the choice of product depends on your anatomy, the goal and technique I am using. I will use a different product for lip filler than chin filler or cheek filler, the injection techniques will also differ.
As a rough guide fillers will last between six and eighteen months, but that can vary between patients. Everyday your body will carry out its own housekeeping of your tissues, this includes dissolving of your own hyaluronic acid. This same process will dissolve the dermal filler over time. In mobile areas of the face, the mechanical movement of the tissues will help speed up this breaking down process.
The results can be seen after the first session, typically three sessions are required for the initial treatment. Each session builds on the next and continues to work for around 12 weeks. The results last between six months to a year, a maintenance treatment is required at six months.
The duration of effects from facial aesthetic treatments can vary depending on the specific treatment, individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle, and the quality of products used. Generally, treatments like dermal fillers and botulinum toxin injections can last anywhere from several months to a year or more, while procedures like chemical peels and laser treatments may offer longer-lasting results with proper maintenance.
During your consultation, your provider can give you a more accurate estimate of how long you can expect the effects of your chosen treatment to last based on your unique circumstances. Additionally, following a consistent skincare routine and scheduling periodic maintenance appointments can help prolong the results of facial aesthetic treatments.
Results can last up to 6 months or longer, depending on individual factors and skincare routines.
A typical Tixel session lasts between 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the treated area and the specific concerns being addressed.
The length of time it takes for Alumier products to work will depend on the product you are using and your skin type. As a rule ot thumb, six weeks with any new skincare is a reasonable time for results.
The effects of the treatment last between 4-6 months.
After this time you will need to repeat the treatment.
The maximum effect of Profhilo is usually seen 2 to 3 months after the second treatment. The treatment lasts for around 6 months, and two treatments are recommended, though this will vary from person to person.
It takes the procedure about 30 minutes. It needs two visits spaced one month apart. A maintenance treatment is suggested in three to six months to boost the results.
The results can be expected to last up to 12-18 months. However as PRP is not permanent it is best to boost results with regular maintenance treatments at six monthly intervals.
Sculptra provides gradual, natural-looking results as it stimulates your body’s collagen production. While some initial fullness may be visible due to the injection process, this fades within a few days as the PLLA particles begin working beneath the skin.
Collagen production typically starts within a few weeks, with noticeable improvements appearing around 6-12 weeks after treatment. Since Sculptra works progressively, optimal results are usually achieved after a series of 2-6 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Once collagen regeneration is complete, results can last up to two years, making Sculptra a long-lasting solution for facial rejuvenation.
A course of LED treatments is recommended depending in your skin condition and needs. In most cases around six weekly or fortnightly treatments is required.
Improvements in your skin may be visible after just a few sessions, but its important to note LED light therapy is cumulative — meaning that each treatment builds upon the previous one to provide greater improvement in skin health and appearance.
The number of Sculptra treatments required depends on individual goals, skin condition, and the level of volume loss. On average, most people need 2 to 6 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve the best results.
A general guideline is one vial per decade of age, meaning:
- 30s: ~2-3 sessions
- 40s: ~3-4 sessions
- 50s and above: ~4-6 sessions
Your practitioner will assess your needs and create a personalised treatment plan to ensure natural, long-lasting results. As Sculptra stimulates collagen production, improvements develop gradually, with results lasting up to two years.
The number of treatments varies based on individual skin concerns. Generally, 2-5 sessions are recommended for optimal results.
Dermal fillers start from £200. For more information on prices.
The cost of PDO threads will vary depending on the individual and aesthetic goals. I can advise you more accurately at a consultation. PDO threads are priced from £450
BioRePeel Cl3 costs £50 or £70 when combined with Dermalux LED light therapy.
The PRP facial costs £250 per session for a standard facial. Additional areas will include a fee, I can provide you with bespoke information on this at your consultation.
The PRP facial is a course of three for maximum results with a maintenance treatment required at six months.

Anti wrinkle treatment starts from £200. See price list above
For best results with BioRePeel Cl3, I recommend a treatment every 7-10 days for 3 to 6 sessions. This is not the same for all peel types and is due to the unique technology in this peel.
The procedures of dermal fillers is a little bit uncomfortable, but they are worth it!
I used the safest techniques to ensure minimal pain. Topical numbing cream is applied to numb the skin prior to injection and most of the products include a local anaesthesia agent, Lidocaine to ensure the placement is comfortable.
Lip fillers are the most sensitive, due to the sensory nature of the lips. Cheek filler and chin filler is very well tolerated. Most people are surprised how comfortable and quick dermal filler is.
Chemical peels vary in their level of discomfort. BioRePeel Cl3 is different to other medium depth peels. The sensation is just a noticeable tingle, a feeling of “activation”. If asked, my patients never score the sensation as more than a 3 on a scale of 1-10.
You will not get the exfoliation and shedding you get with other TCA peels as this product skips the epidermis and performs deeper penetration to the dermis.
You don’t have downtime, scarring or pain. Other peels can often be unpleasant and painful. This product has no peeling afterwards despite all the benefits!
You may experience some mild discomfort at the injection site, but it is very well tolerated. Very fine 4 mm needles are used to ensure discomfort and accuracy with each injection performed individually to avoid injury to any follicles.
I understand first-hand how acne can affect your confidence. AlumierMD skincare can help boost your confidence and make you feel good in your skin.
During your consultation process I will discuss skincare plan, educate you about home care and why it is essential to be treating your skin at home too. A combination of at home skincare, LED and chemical peels give a synergistic effect.
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that can be frustrating and embarrassing for those who suffer from it.
While there is no known cure for rosacea, there are ways to manage and control the symptoms, and AlumierMD skincare offers an excellent solution. AlumierMD products are specifically designed to target the underlying causes of rosacea and improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. Regularly using AlumierMD skincare products allows individuals with rosacea to enjoy smoother, healthier, and more radiant skin.
Anti wrinkle treatment is botulinum toxin and the most well known brand is Botox. This prescription medication used for anti-wrinkle injections as well as for treating a wide range of clinical conditions.
As the brand is so well know you may hear anti-wrinkle injections in general being referred to as ‘Botox’ for short, but in reality there is no actual difference between the two terms.
Other brands of Botulinum toxin such as Azzalure, Bocouture, Xeomin, Letybo etc, are comparable and the results will all be the same.
Anti wrinkle treatment uses botulinum toxin to address wrinkles that form on movement. Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid and they replenish volume lost during the ageing process.
To find out more about Botox vs Fillers check out my post.
Dermal fillers are suitable for anyone who is in good health.
There are some conditions that may exclude you from the procedure. These include active infection in the area of concern, pregnancy, breastfeeding, allergy to any of the product contents or reversal medication. They should be used with caution in those with autoimmune conditions such as Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.
Dermalux LED light therapy is suitable for all skin types. It is medically CE certified to be used to treat acne, aid wound healing, and improve psoriasis and pain.
Light therapy can address some cosmetic concerns by improving the appearance of pigmentation and redness, naturally rejuvenating the skin. The Dermalux LED therapy can also be integrated with other treatments to enhance and accelerate results.
There are some patients for whom LED is unsuitable such as anyone with migraines, eye conditions, or taking certain types of antibiotics.
LED phototherapy is thought to be safe for the eyes in physically healthy, unmedicated persons.
However I take the health of your eyes seriously and eye protection is used during LED phototherapy.
LED Phototherapy does not use heat or chemicals and the light does not contain harmful UV wavelengths and so cannot damage skin cells.
Dermalux provides one of the safest ways to treat all skin types and conditions without risk of irritation, unwanted side effects or downtime.
Absolutely! If you’re looking for a painless way to reduce redness and increase the overall texture and condition of your skin, Dermalux can be an excellent treatment.
Did you know that LED phototherapy was originally developed by NASA? It offers some fantastic benefits, including:
- Faster cell renewal – up to 200% faster
- Stimulation of collagen-producing fibroblasts
- Reduction of the enzymes that break down collagen.
With little or no recovery time, Dermalux LED therapy is worthwhile. For best results a course of treatment is reccomended.
While Profhilo treatment is an injectable, it doesn’t affect the contours of the face like dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are made to correct the loss of volume and refine the facial shape. Profhilo is designed to improve the quality of skin without changing the facial contours.
Essentially they are the same thing. When you think of the procedure you might think of Kim Kardashian who brought the PRP facial to the attention of the general public.
Kim was treated by a clinician called Dr. Runels who has a registration for the trademark “Vampire Facial” to apply to this procedure. Owning the name doesn’t mean he has ownership rights to the procedure, but it is the same technique.
PRP facial is an effective treatment when used for skin rejuvenation. As a clinician I know this from my own patients, but it was also the research area of my MSc.
The scientific evidence shows us it is a safe and effective treatment for reducing the visible signs of aging. Fine lines around the eyes also benefit. The result of the treatment is improvement in collagen levels, fine lines, pore size and skin texture.
Maisel-Campbell AL, Ismail A, Reynolds KA, Poon E, Serrano L, Grushchak S, Farid C, West DP, Alam M. A systematic review of the safety and effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for skin aging. Arch Dermatol Res. 2020 Jul;312(5):301-315. doi: 10.1007/s00403-019-01999-6. Epub 2019 Oct 18. PMID: 31628542.
PRP facial is very low risk and thought to be safe. There may be some pain, swelling, or bruising after the procedure that goes away in a few days.
The PRP facial is largely comfortable and well tolerated. There is the small pinch when your blood sample is taken.
Numbing cream ensures the injections and micro needling of the the PRP is very comfortable.
Sculptra is a highly effective treatment for restoring lost volume and stimulating collagen production, but it may not be suitable for everyone. It is ideal for individuals looking for a gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation rather than an instant volumising effect.
However, Sculptra may not be suitable for:
Those with autoimmune conditions or disorders affecting collagen production.
Individuals with active skin infections, inflammation, or open wounds in the treatment area.
People with a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.

There are many at home LED therapy masks on the market. The results from an at home treatment might not be as effective. The main concern about home-based devices is that the light source they use may not reach the correct wavelength to be effective and get results. Not all LED therapy devices deliver the same results.
Receiving your LED light therapy from a professional can ensure that you’re treating your skin with the most effective and advanced technology on the market. I can help you target those skin concerns and problem areas, to help you achieve your skin goals quickly and easily.
Platelet Rich Fibrin (iPRF), Platelet Rich Plasma and Plasma Rich in Growth factors are all derived from blood plasma but there are subtle differences.
Both PRP and iPRF are very similar and used in the same way. Since completing my MSc and recent research, I use the newer iPRF because it contains a stronger concentration of the valuable cells required for regeneration and it also contains no other chemicals.
When preparing PRP and PRGF the blood collection tube contains anticoagulants and a special gel to extract the growth factors and platelets. The growth factors are then only released and active for a few minutes once injected.
iPRF is the new more advanced version of the traditional PRP. Sterile tubes are used and there are no artificial anticoagulants or gels introduced into the product. The higher concentration of growth factors and other regenerative cells are then released into the skin, for up to 7 days. This allows the cells the opportunity to absorb them as efficiently as possible.
Advanced anti wrinkle injections refer to treatment areas beyond the usual ‘three areas’. The usual three areas being the frown, forehead and crows feet.
Advanced anti wrinkle injections required expert level anatomical knowledge. Areas of advanced treatment include down turned mouth, bunny lines, gummy smile, excessive sweating, pebble chin, neck botox, jaw slimming, TMD treatment and treating migraine. These are all treatments Dr Janice performs on a regular basis.
PDO threads are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that helps reverse the visible signs of aging on the face and neck.
PDO stands for polydioxanone, which is a common chemical compound used in surgical settings, specifically the suturing of incisions, for a number of years.
PDO threads are resorbed and collagen is produced in response.
- Stimulate and increase collagen production
- Long-lasting and efficiently repair the skin
- Deep skin hydration
- Noticeable lift and tighten the skin
- Restoration of skin texture and smoothness
- Upgrade and refine cellular renewal
- Enhance skin firmness and elasticity
- Diminish acne scars and stretch marks
- Can be used where filler cannot such as around puffy eyes
- Do not change the facial shape
LED light therapy is commonly used for its anti-ageing and inflammation-reducing benefits to revitalise skin. LED light therapy helps to promote collagen production, which can improve wrinkles and other signs of skin ageing.
Potential side effects of facial aesthetic treatments can vary depending on the specific procedure and individual factors. However, common side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the treatment site. These typically resolve within a few days to a week.
For treatments involving injections, such as dermal fillers or botulinum toxin injections, there is a risk of rare but serious complications such as infection, allergic reactions, or unintentional injection into blood vessels, which could lead to tissue damage. It’s essential to choose a qualified and experienced practitioner who follows strict safety protocols to minimise these risks.
Other potential side effects may include skin irritation, pigment changes, or scarring with certain procedures like chemical peels or laser treatments. These risks can be minimised by selecting the appropriate treatment for your skin type and condition and following pre and post-treatment care instructions provided by your practitioner.
It’s crucial to discuss any concerns or medical history with your provider before undergoing a facial aesthetic treatment and to follow their recommendations for a safe and successful outcome.

As with any injectable treatment, there are risks to be aware of. As the origin is fish, polynucleotides are not suitable for vegetarians, vegans or those with fish allergies.
It’s also not appropriate for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Otherwise the treatment is relatively safe due to the fact that you can inject it into any type of anatomy with careful technique, means that almost anyone is a candidate.
However when performing an aesthetic procedure a thorough medical history is taken prior to the treatment to screen for any psychological disorders or red flags before any aesthetic ”
Most side effects following treatment with anti wrinkle are temporary. Side effects of treatment include redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site.
These effects typically resolve within a few hours to a few days. You can reduce the risk of side effects by choosing a reputable medical injector like Dr Janice.
In rare cases, Anti-Wrinkle treatment may cause complications such as drooping eyelids or uneven eyebrows. However the risk is significantly reduced with an experienced injector like Dr Janice.

Threads give an immediate lift to the treated area, this will relax somewhat as any initial swelling resolves. Collagen is formed over the following three months and the appearance improves further.

Dermal fillers plump the skin from the inside out by replacing lost fat and proteins to smooth lines and wrinkles.
Dermal fillers replace lost volume so are used on static lines which remain visible on the face even when it’s relaxed and expressionless. Dynamic lines are visable on expression and are generally best treated with Botox.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers also have the advantage of being hydrophilic, that means they attract and retain water. This internal moisturiser attracts water and holds it in the tissues, helping fill out the skin, creating the perfect plumping effect.
The treatment requires three sessions, spaced out by two-four weeks. I apply local anaesthetic cream to the area prior to injecting, and then administer the product to the desired area of the face or neck.
The procedure itself is quick, has minimal discomfort and is tolerated well by patients.
Platelet rich plasma improves skin texture and tone by regenerating collagen which helps reduce wrinkles and lines, improve skin texture around the delicate eye area, tackle blemishes, improve scarring and restore a healthy glow.
Dermal fillers can be made of various materials. The dermal fillers I use in my clinic are all made of hyaluronic acid.
This means they are closely matched to your own tissues and can be removed by dissolving if required. As hyaluronic acid is present in your own body the safety profile is high.
This is very difficult to answer and will be different depending on the individual. Dermal filler and PDO threads do different things. Dermal fillers restore lost volume and this in turn softens wrinkles and fine lines. PDO threads lift sagging tissue to lift and tighten the skin creating a more youthful appearance.
PDO threads and dermal fillers are quite often used in combination for best effects but it does depend on the case and aesthetic goal. It is best to book a consultation and decide what is best for you.
Light-emitting diode (LED) light therapy has recently gained traction in the healthcare arena.
LED light therapy is mainly focused on skincare, promoting anti-aging effects and reducing inflammation. The benefits include an increase in the amount of collagen in the skin, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other stigmata of aging. Other uses of LED light therapy include acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, scarring, and sun damage.
Platelet Rich Plasma is a regenerative skin treatment that harnesses the body’s own healing powers to stimulate new tissue growth, giving your skin a healthy, more youthful appearance.
A small amount of the patients own blood is taken and the plasma is then separated out from the rest of the blood, by means of a centrifuge to create the platelet rich plasma.
This plasma is then injected into the area of concern where the platelets release their growth factors. This is the same as the healing cascade reaction that happens following an injury. This natural process rejuvenates the skin.
After your Sculptra treatment, it’s important to follow some simple aftercare guidelines to ensure the best results and minimise any potential side effects:
- Avoid wearing makeup, excessive heat, and engaging in vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
- Steer clear of waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, and laser treatments for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.
- To help minimise bruising, avoid NSAIDs, fish oils, and alcohol prior to your treatment.
- Follow the 5-5-5 rule: Gently massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days following your treatment. Apply medium pressure, working along the injection sites. You may want to use a cream or serum during the massage to reduce friction.
There is no correct answer to this, everyone ages differently. Their skin will have different needs and preferences. I believe the best age for Profhilo is early 30s. This is when most people start to see the first signs of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles.
Profhilo can help to plump and hydrate the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. If you are younger than 30 or older than 60, you may still be able to benefit from Profhilo. I’m happy to advise you of your individual skin needs.
Platelet Rich Plasma for hair loss costs £300 per treatment.
The treatment costs £250 per session. To Book
Downtime is minimal, usually 1-3 days of mild redness and swelling. Most patients can return to normal activities within a day or two.
When you attend for your PRP facial I will take before photos of your clean skin. Following from this the numbing cream is applied to the treatment area such as the face and neck.
The blood draw is performed and placed in the centrifuge. Once the iPRF is ready the numbing cream is removed, the skin cleaned with a disinfecting agent and the iPRF micro needled and injected as required.
Tixel is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment that uses thermo-mechanical technology to improve skin texture, reduce signs of aging, and enhance overall skin appearance.
Following PRP for hair loss you should avoid sources of heat such as steam rooms and saunas for around 48 hours. Avoid minoxidil for 48 hours and any chemical hair treatments such as colouring or straightening.
After Polynucleotide treatments, you can expect improved skin texture with reduced fine lines and wrinkles. The treatments also increase skin elasticity, making your complexion more resilient and youthful. This therapy rejuvenates the skin, resulting in a healthier, revitalised appearance.
Immediately after any injection there may be some swelling, redness, itching and dryness of the skin present.
Bruising can also occur and will usually resolve within 5-7 days. This is a normal occurrence and has to be expected. The settling down period will vary from person to person.
A slight purple discolouration of the skin for 2-3 days post treatment can occur due to the colour of the plasma that has been injected.
Paracetamol can be taken post treatment for swelling and pain but NO aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication should be taken for at least 7 days post treatment.
It is advised not to take Vitamin E supplements for 48 hours prior to treatment.
Avoid exercise as sweating can introduce bacteria into the open channels in the skin.
Make up may be applied the day after treatment.
Avoid alcohol for 6 hours post treatment.
Factor 30-50 sun protection should be used daily following treatment.
Avoid the use of sunbeds, especially on the face.
Remember that these treatments give very subtle changes, we very quickly forget how we looked prior to treatment.
Conditions the AlumierMD skincare range can treat include photo aging, acne, rosacea, pigmentation and sensitivity.
The results achieved by this range have seen them featured in Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazar, Marie Claire, Country & Town House and Grazia.
Treating excessive sweating begins with treating any condition contributing condition. If a cause isn’t found, treatment focuses on controlling heavy sweating.
If new self-care habits don’t improve your symptoms, you may consider botulinum toxin injections to block the nerve signals controlling the glands.
Before treatment it is best to remove all make up, and arrive with clean skin.
Some things can make you more prone to bruising such as alcohol, aspirin, Ibuprofen and a range of dietary supplements including; St. Johns Wort, fish oils, Gingko Biloba, Vitamins C and E. It is best to avoid these 24 hours before treatment.
Treatment cannot be administered if there is an active skin infection like acne or a cold sore. Do contact me to discuss any new conditions or medications before your treatment.
Profhilo is injected just below the skin’s surface. Upon injection, it disperses quickly beneath the skin to improve hydration without any need for massage or the risk of leaving lumps or nodules. Hyaluronic acid is a completely natural skin substance, it blends into the skin seamlessly and distributes itself evenly. There is little to no down time, that said it is best not to wear any make up for the rest of the day.
A single course of Profhilo makes the skin glow, fine lines may disappear and you may notice smoother and tighter skin. A course of two treatments can be repeated every four to six months as needed to maintain the results or as recommended during your consultation.
I only use premium brand hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that I order through registered pharmacies in the UK.
The brands I use include Teoxane, Merz and Croma, nothing I wouldn’t have in my own face as a rule.

Over the next few weeks, collagen and elastin production is stimulated, producing a secondary effect of skin tightening. This is useful because levels of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin rapidly decline from the age of 30, resulting in signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, and lacklustre skin.
Sometimes excessive sweating is a sign of a an underlying medical condition.
You should see your doctor if the amount you sweat is causing emotional distress or social withdrawal, is new for you or you have started to experience night sweats for no apparent reason.
As we age collagen and elastin is lost from our skin, our facial fat pads loose volume and the bony skeleton of the face starts to resorb resulting in less support to the facial tissues. All great news!
These changes will happen at different rates depending on genetic and lifestyle factors.
Therefore the time to consider dermal fillers will vary.
Younger patients are inclined to be open to the idea of lip filler, but you must bear in mind not to go to far, the facial profile might not be suitable for a larger lip. Mature patients are quite often apprehensive about lip filler, but the results can be very natural with the right product and technique.
Since Sculptra works gradually by stimulating collagen production, it’s best to plan your treatment well in advance of any major event. For optimal results, consider the following timeline:
- At Least 3-6 Months Before: Start your Sculptra treatments to allow enough time for collagen production and volume restoration.
- Multiple Sessions Required: Most people need 2-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, so starting early ensures full results.
- Final Session at Least 6 Weeks Before: This allows your skin to settle and the collagen-building process to enhance your appearance naturally.
- Short-Term Swelling & Bruising: Mild swelling, redness, or bruising can occur after injections but typically subsides within a few days.
For weddings, photoshoots, or special occasions, early planning ensures you achieve a refreshed, natural-looking glow in time for your big event.
Some improvements may be visible immediately, but optimal results typically develop over 2-3 months as collagen production increases.
Profhilo Is Commonly Used For The Face But Can Also Be Used To Treat The Neck And Hands. Profhilo Body Areas Include The Knees, Underarms And Chest.

Treatment to the axilla (arm pits) is common and straight forward.
Treatment to other body areas and facial areas will depend on the underlying musculature for example on the face, it is important not to affect smiling etc…
There are certain reasons why you might not be able to have this treatment such as pregnancy or breast feeding, allergy to any of the contents, certain neuromuscular disorders or infection at the injection site.
Most people will be a candidate for PRP facial, however there some exclusions.
It is inappropriate for those who have a medical condition that may worsen or spread with injection such as active infection or metastatic disease. Certain blood and bleeding disorders may exclude you from treatment. The treatment is unsuitable for Pregnancy and breast feeding though there is no evidence to suggest it may cause harm.
A chemical peel is solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells.
The aim is to improve the appearance of the skin. Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of pigmentation such as age spots, even out skin tone, improve acne and uneven skin texture.
You might not be a candidate for PRP if you do not have enough viable hair follicles. Certain medical conditions such as Pregnancy, breastfeeding, coagulation disorders, autoimmune conditions or malignancy.
No, the results from Sculptra are designed to be gradual and natural-looking. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra stimulates your body’s own collagen production over time. This means you will notice a subtle improvement in volume and skin texture over the course of a few weeks, with the final results becoming apparent in 2-3 months.
Because the changes occur gradually, it’s unlikely that others will immediately notice you’ve had treatment. Instead, they may simply comment on how you look more refreshed and youthful, without being able to pinpoint the cause.
