Smile line fillers

Smile lines are those little lines that appear across the face as we move and smile, hence the name.  But over time they can become permanent and make the skin look a little bit tired.

This beautiful lady decided she wanted to softened these lines, giving her a reason to smile again.

Here I have used a technique for smile line filler known as dermal strengthening to hydrate the lines and provide more rigidity to the skin.  Smile line filler treatment is a popular treatment in my clinic.  A series of small injections of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are administered around the smile lines in order to help reduce those first signs of ageing.  The injections are made just under the skin during a simple procedure that offers great results with limited downtime.

Hyaluronic acid, of which dermal filler is made, is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in all skin and soft tissues throughout the body.  It attracts and binds water in the skin, providing volume and hydration, but also ‘cushioning’ and supporting collagen and elastin fibres, providing a medium, for chemical messages between the cells.

In some cases its more appropriate to use botox for smile lines, but this is more suitable for someone who has a severe muscle pulling in the area.

This technique for smile line filler is highly dependant on knowledge of anatomy, choice of product and operator technique. The dermal filler is very flexible and quickly integrates within the tissues and feels indistinguishable from your own skin.
